Rachel Maddow is receiving a lot of attention today after crying on her news program about immigrant children being separated from adults while crossing the border from Mexico into the U.S. without permission. While I don't doubt that she truly feels sad about the situation, and it is truly a heartbreaking tragedy, the entire story is based on a lie. The Honduran girl was never separated from her mother, but even more, the mother had kidnapped the child from a large well-off family and paid a "coyote" to help cross the wilderness in search of an easy welfare life as a single mother in the US. This completely refutes the entire narrative that most of the migrants at the US southern border are fleeing persecution.
The father and the large family were later revealed in photos, and the truth was explained wherein the girl’s father told the Daily Mail that his wife Sandra Maria Sanchez had kidnapped their 2-year-old daughter, Yanela Denise against his wishes in a secret plan to move to the US. Sandra had abandoned her three other children: Wesly, 14, Cindy, 11, and Brianna, 6 apparently seeking a welfare life as a single mother in the US.
Beyond the lies and propaganda, it's clear that Democrat politicians are blocking long-term practical solutions that would allow for safer immigration as families that can stay together and it's also clear by her past record that Maddow will blatantly deny critical facts (whether consciously or not) in order to support her animus and pre-conceived prejudices against President Trump. The history of Maddow's tendency towards twisting facts and promoting propaganda, plus critical facts on the present situation in U.S. politics, are all very relevant.
Maddow's history of propaganda
Rachel Maddow's bias in the past has been so extreme and dishonest that even left-leaning news sources objected to it and called her out on it. Fox News showed how a Huffington Post writer, Willa Frej objected to Maddow's dishonesty in the article: What The Hell Was This Rachel Maddow Segment? “Everybody that I know is appalled by this.” -and Frej described the deceptive approach of Maddow:
"It was a vintage Rachel Maddow stemwinder. A deft, 25-minute weaving of carefully curated sound bites, screenshots of news reports, slick maps and graphics, all strung together to make the case that something fishy is afoot. It’s a style Maddow has perfected, and it has propelled her to the top of the ratings heap. There was just one problem. Maddow’s theory was so flimsy that it could be debunked by a quick glance at a map, let alone a phone call with an expert."
With regard to Maddow's recent tearful news, as she was crying and describing children allegedly being snatched away, she said, "Can we put up the graphic of this?" and an image of the young girl (Yanela Denise) that was the poster child for alleged refugee child separation was posted in her news feed. But there are big problems. To begin with, The Daily Mail pointed out that the child was not a refugee and was never separated from its mother. The mother had not only left their home, leaving behind three other children and a husband with a good job, to try to cross the U.S. border illegally, but she had also kidnapped the child and left without telling the husband. She is more of a criminal than a victim.
The mother essentially kidnaped the young girl and put her through unnecessary trauma and risked both of their lives in the desert and, apparently, she did this in search of her conception of the "American Dream" that would for her include a single mother on welfare living the easy life. This is what passes for "refugees" in many cases. There is no "persecution" of "refugees" entering the US southern border.
Rachel Maddow's entire appeal to emotion based on this image was essentially a lie and the facts of the matter reveal a number of arguments as to why there should be strong border control and not incentives to cross the border illegally. News sources are ethically responsible to do at least minimal research to ensure that their stories are accurate. What we increasingly see is MSM news creating a false narrative in order to attack President Trump and then fabricating images to try to push the narrative. Ethical journalism is based on finding real evidence and then describing a true description based on tested facts.
Huffington Post's Camille Preston underscores that there's an inverse relationship between emotions and critical thinking skills such that when we are very emotional, our critical thinking abilities decrease dramatically. Again, I won't offer that Rachel Maddow is consciously manipulating people with tears but I will offer that it's very possible that she's come to believe her own background narrative without being aware of critical facts.
Seven Critical facts ignored by Maddow and MSM news
1. The subject of immigration is a timely distraction from widespread government corruption.
Regarding an immigration law that has been on the books since 2002, it's important to note that this hysteric attention to the southern border of the U.S. did not become news until just after the Inspector General's report on the FBI was released affirming not only that there has been extreme corruption on many levels in the previous administration but in the FBI itself. Did Maddow's MSNBC ever cover this corruption? The first article that comes up in a Google search for "MSNBC inspector general report on FBI" is John Podesta's opinion of that matter. Wikileaks revealed in posts that Podesta was a part of the corrupt campaign approach of Hillary Clinton and that they desired to undermine the conservative values of the Catholic Church with a "revolution" of progressivism, and none of this has been denied. Yet, this is the 'expert opinion' MSNBC brings on to evaluate the IG report.
The immigration distraction began with a false and defamatory Twitter post by Obama's speechwriter, Jon Favreau, showing photos of Obama's mishandling of children, with the false caption: "This is happening right now," and, apparently, no apology was ever offered for the mistake.
2. The fact is, key Democrats voted for "alien child" separation.
What is conveniently left out of the anti-Trump hysteria by Rachel Maddow and the establishment MSM, in general, is that key Democrat politicians voted for the 2002 law with wording describing the separation of unlawfully-entering immigrant parents from their children and this law was unchallenged by both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
In 2002, Feinstein, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and a host of Democrat and Republican politicians voted 90-9 for this under globalist establishment President George W. Bush. It is pure hypocrisy on the part of these people and establishment news companies to try to blame the current law and situation on Donald Trump.

The 2002 law is also in the context of the "Flores decision" or the “Flores settlement” (Flores v. Reno, a 1997 federal court decision) that essentially “forced” alien parents from their children to prosecute them. This legal decision was formed under Democrat President Bill Clinton.
3. Previous administrations held minor children in cages and crude temporary shelters.
NPR reports: "This is not the first time the U.S. government has used temporary shelters for minors: During the surge of unaccompanied minors crossing the border in 2014, HHS set up several temporary facilities at military bases." There are numerous photos from the time of Obama's administration showing crowds of immigrant children in dog-like cages, and on concrete floors, as documented by the Daily Caller. There are also photos of people protesting child separation under Obama, such as this one posted by Steve MacDonald. However, there was not the same hatred for the president at the time and the fact that the MSM news generally did not cover these stories with the same fervor underscores that MSM news is now engaged in selective outrage. The MSM news basically ignored Obama's mistreatment of migrants while everything in Trump's America is unfairly labeled a "crisis."
The NPR article on immigration did not describe the actual law that was arbitrarily enforced or not enforced at any given time under previous leadership. That 2002 law uses the term "alien" and according to the legal dictionary, an alien that is undocumented (not having the appropriate legal documents) is "illegal". Here is clip showing the specific alien child separation law from 2002 and the implied definition of an illegal alien:
4. Maddow and MSM news ignore the critical aspect of child trafficking that needs to be addressed.
Another critical fact ignored by Maddow is that many of the alleged "parents" of children crossing the border are not parents at all, but are child traffickers. As the Washington Examiner points out, 301 kids arrived at the border with an adult posing as a parent in a seven-month period.
According to left-leaning Huffington Post, 80% of Central American women and young Girls are raped while crossing into the U.S. Illegal child trafficking is more serious than just crossing the border illegally. As heart-wrenching as this may be, even toddlers and infants can and are brought across the border by adults that are not really their parents but are child traffickers. Unlike Obama's administration, Trump is being careful to use DNA testing to ensure that parents are truly parents. But this takes longer. Should toddlers found with human traffickers go into an adult facility with no special care? Probably not. Having a "tender age" facility actually makes sense.
5. Previous administrations actually supported child abuse and trafficking.
The Washington Post reported in January 2016 the results of a Senate investigation showing that migrant children were placed with child traffickers and used for slave labor in the U.S., as summarized by the Washington Times. YourNewsWire described how migrant child abuse in the U.S. was covered up by the mainstream media at the time:
"Hillary Clinton’s State Department gifted an “unknown number” of children to human traffickers after refusing to run the most basic checks on these so-called “caregivers,” according to a bombshell Senate report released late on Thursday and completely covered up by mainstream media." Criminals take advantage of the kind of sloppy bureaucracy that tends towards arbitrary enforcement and lawlessness.
The Department of Homeland Security outlines how the policy approach used by previous administrations resulted in harm to children because they were viewed as a "golden ticket" to get into the country, however, it was dangerous to children because it, “incited smugglers to place children into the hands of adult strangers so they can pose as families and be released from immigration custody after crossing the border, creating another safety issue for these children.”
On December 13, 2013, Federal Judge Andrew S. Hanen issued a searing indictment Obama's child immigration policy, calling it “dangerous and unconscionable” because it is “completing the criminal mission” of human traffickers “who are violating the border security of the United States” and assisting a “criminal conspiracy in achieving its illegal goals.” These serious problems and scandals in Obama's immigration policy are being completely ignored in the biased MSM news today.
6. Democrats are blocking real long-term solutions to keep immigrant families together.
The Hill reports, "Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday dismissed a legislative proposal backed by Republican leaders to keep immigrant families together at the border, arguing that President Trump could fix the problem more easily with a flick of his pen."
The fact is, the president cannot simply establish long-term solutions and laws with his own pen. While it may be that the Democrat Party enforces laws in a willy-nilly pattern and change their actions at will, this is not actually what the Constitution prescribes. When Trump did suggest an executive order to keep families together, as recommended, then the critics claimed that the Flores decision would not allow an executive law to stand and the keeping of families together.
The only alternative that the Democrats seem to be interested in is to not allow for serious vetting against child trafficking and to let entire self-identified families cross the border illegally. But this is not a solution that will be agreed upon and so there is simply relentless criticism and blame shifting while the tension and controversies continue.
The pattern of comments by Schumer and the MSM news shows that actually helping immigrant families and children in a legal and practical sense is not the main agenda. Schumer has acknowledged that the Democrat focus has been simply to provide fuel for an "anti-Trump" machine while at the same time having no specific positive plans or goals themselves. The 'sanctuary for all' open-door open-borders policy may sound loving but it is not very loving, for example, towards the 17 families on Long Island that had loved ones murdered by MS-13 gang members between January 2016 and April 2016. ABC News acknowledged that "Between 2016 and 2018, police suspect MS-13 played a role in at least 25 killings on Long Island."
7. MSM news sites are promoting unsubstantiated accusations as though proven facts.
CNN is circulating content that the present government is "torturing people" and separating nursing mothers from children at the border. CNN has been the provider of the greatest amount of fake news on the Internet and this accusation that the government is grabbing nursing infants is neither supported by any U.S. law nor by any government workers or any other witnesses than the alleged victim, as outlined by The Daily Signal:
“We do not separate breastfeeding children from their parents. That does not exist. That is not a policy. That is not something that DHS does,” an official told reporters Friday. “We believe that that is false.”
The fact is, a court officially decided in 2015 that the Obama administration was detaining families as a form of punishment "for the purpose of deterring future immigration to the United States," and found this unacceptable, as pointed out by Benjy Sarlin.
The most effective propaganda
The most effective propaganda stirs the deepest emotions while denying the most critical facts. The MSM news companies are getting very good at it. Like Rachel Maddow, Time magazine also ran with the misleading image of the saying 'separated child' and this image was very effective until it backfired. Time was later forced to correct their misinformation after they were exposed. At the very bottom of their cover story, Time offered the following correction of the central critical fact: “The original version of this story misstated what happened to the girl in the photo after she taken from the scene,”
Bonus Fact: These are not "refugees" but often simply people looking to live free on welfare.
Judicial Watch obtained a copy of a Spanish language leaflet through a Freedom of Information Act request that invites all Mexicans, not refugees, to illegally cross the border into the U.S. in order to receive free welfare support without any important questions being asked of the individual. These leaflets were published shortly after Obama took office.
The new Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) called for mass immigration to the United States during a speech declaring it a “human right” for all North Americans. Again, this signifies that many come into the U.S. illegally more as an 'invasion' than as legal 'immigration' in order to simply live for free on welfare as a supposed "right" based on socialistic or communistic globalist logic. Andrés Manuel López Obrador is, in fact, a socialist.
The fallout of the propaganda
Following Rachel Maddow's tearful and misleading news coverage, even the pope was joining the fray in condemning Trump as the demon of family separations, among other criticisms, as outlined by Reuters. In calling the present U.S. policy “contrary to our Catholic values” is Pope Francis aware that the same MSM news company that is weeping over this subject is also promoting politicians bent on undermining the traditional values of the Catholic Church? Is he aware that the policy of immigrant child separation while looking into the parent status has been a law for over a decade? Is he aware that investigating the status of parents is the only way to stop child trafficking? If he watches Rachel Maddow and most other MSM news, probably not.
It seems that Pope Francis supports the present anti-Trump hysteria along with the sheep that follow MSM news without any fact-checking. In his interview, Pope Francis said that family separations at the US border are "immoral" but he apparently does not consider the type of government lawlessness that launched Donald Trump into the presidency as very immoral. In what can only be described as extremely misinformed, Pope Francis stated that Europe needs more immigrants, not less, despite studies confirming a link between "soaring violence and crime" in Europe due to refugees:
"The pope said populists were “creating psychosis” on the issue of immigration, even as aging societies like Europe faced “a great demographic winter” and needed more immigrants."
The progressivism and anti-populist actions of the pope are considered by many to be the main reason Gallup polls show an extreme drop in Catholic Church attendance since Pope Francis took the reigns.
It's apparent that people such as Rachel Maddow and Pope Francis are so committed to their agenda that they are ignoring and denying the most important and relevant facts. As the history of the situation is better understood, and the photos of Obama's caged children are seen, it's clear that the subject of immigration all over the news is a timely manufactured crisis for the purpose of selective outrage all to distract from the widespread Democrat Party and Deep State corruption displayed in the recent Inspector General's report.
UPDATE: The fake news on immigration has become so repetitive that I am adding a list of continued fake news on U.S. immigration being pumped out by MSM news.
June 25, 2018: The NY Times now says that Trump's immigration policy is based on "white extinction anxiety" an article by Charles M. Blow
- FBI informants have shown that The NY Times is one of the MSM news outlets referred to in the recent Inspector General's report describing their bribing of the FBI, and they have an incentive to try to sink Trump and his administration to try to save their own necks.
July 8, 2018: Glen Greenwald documents: MSNBC Does Not Merely Permit Fabrications Against Democratic Party Critics. It Encourages and Rewards Them.

This is completely off topic but wanted you to know none the less. Back in the day about 6 years or so ago I was one of your most ardent detractors. I was arguing from an objectivist position and of course took Dawson Bethrick's side in your interactions with him. I am still an atheist and oppose creationism but something has changed.
ReplyDeleteI have been battling online the intersectional SJW cultural Marxists for the last 3 years or so. Increasingly I now look upon you with a little more kindness and understanding. The enemy of my enemy may not be my friend but he does not have to be my enemy either. In any case these SJWs are insane and they are coming for us, all of us. They want and will not settle for anything less than total hegemonic control over us and if that makes us unlikely allies so be it. I would must rather live in a christian society where I constantly have to tell you all how deluded you are than a the SJW utopia. In their world I would have to constantly debase myself and apologize for what my ancestors did, the original sin of being white that nothing can erase. Remember you guys are the racists however, "sarcasm". A world not built on merit but forced equality of outcome enforced by the business end of a gun. No sir, Christianity sounds down right attractive in comparison. Take care and keep up the good fight.
Wow. I remember your name and in general you were more agreeable than some of the more militant atheists I debated online.
DeleteThat's good news that you do not consider me as a Christian as much as an 'enemy' as in the past.
Debating Bethrick on Objectivism was good for me and I believe that the idea of 'metaphysical primacy' is a valid idea and helps to elucidate ideas in Christianity, such as the primacy of God's good nature.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear the good news! Maybe we can discuss Cultural Marxism through the 'objectivist'lens of metaphysical primacy.
Marxism is based mainly on a secular-materialist understanding of class struggle. But can that really be a valid basis of society? I don't think so.
