US Gold Medalist Diver David Boudia Gives God the Glory

In an interview just prior to the London 2012 Olympics, US diver David Boudia stated, "God is providing this platform so He can reveal Himself. Hopefully the sport will get more attention this year and hopefully God will get more attention out of the Olympics as well."

Well, his wishes have come true. There are so many Christians winning gold this year and giving God the glory that it is getting difficult to keep track. In his interview with Chad Bonham, Boudia shared his testimony of how his diving coach, Adam Soldati, helped to lead him into a vital relationship with Christ during a time when Boida was at a low point in his life.

"I didn’t know what a believer was or what that even meant when I came to him. I just knew that Adam was someone I looked up to and I didn’t know why. He just provided me with a lot of wisdom. He was someone I could turn to and ask those tough questions. He was real approachable and loving. That’s why I felt like I could come to him during that time." There are more details and inspiring quotes in the published interview.

Boudia was way behind in 18th place after Friday's qualifying rounds in London - where only the top 18 divers make semifinals. But because Boudia chose to do difficult dives and performed consistently, he was able to make his way back as an underdog to retrieve a gold medal, the first for an American male since 1988.

As Sanya Richards Ross, another US Christian gold medalist in 2012, has stated, "...God is always on time! Sometimes things happen that we can't understand, and we think that God has forgotten about us, but that is never true. We must go through different seasons to truly appreciate when God is working everything out for us. In the meantime, we must thank God in all things!" Sonya's come from behind win in a previous Olympic competition is highlighted on Youtube. She has won two golds so far in the 2012 Olympics.

Boudia's interviewer, Chad Bonham, has a new book out, Glory of the Games, that features 18 past and present Olympians such as Shannon Miller, Tamika Catchings, Josh Davis, Ryan Hall, Dave Johnson and Kevin Durant discussing various biblical principles that have helped them succeed as elite international athletes.

As if Christianity needs more attention. It's not as if it's *possible* in this day and age to grow up anywhere Boudia's interview would be going and not know about Christianity.

This is a very blunt "God will make you better at things" claim, and, as you've refused to answer on your last Olympic thread, it's a claim without evidence. Boudia may think that God had something to do with it, but all the evidence we have shows that Boudia and the placebo effect had a lot to do with it.

But this article did help me understand why you're having so much trouble on the other threads -- Christianity views the key element of evidence as individual testimony, not anything larger; so you think by racking up a few testimonies you're proving a point.

I notice that, as usual, when things get heated in one thread, and it looks like you're running out of answers, you run and start a new one; this is just another case of the same thing.

    (Oh, two side notes:
    1) Boudia was way behind in 18th place after Friday's qualifying rounds in London - where only the top 18 divers make semifinals. -- you do realize that after the semifinals, all points totals were wiped out? So, as usual, you're exaggerating the extent of his comeback to make him look even better. There's no doubt it was an impressive performance -- but not what you're implying.
    2) So, since you made a point of complaining about "censorship" the last time a network didn't give someone a platform to talk about God, I presume you're prepared to give the media a lot of credit now?)

  2. >But this article did help me understand why you're having so much trouble on the other threads

    - Eh, yeah, right, sure.. it's me who is having all the trouble. That's why not one of you atheist antagonists have been able to answer my simple questions noted here:

    http://templestream.blogspot.com/2012/08/atheist-achilles-heels-objective.html?showComment=1344686960920#c9065626452515124262

It's funny how atheist relativists are often into Orwellian Newthink: "We can't answer your simple questions so that means you are having trouble...."

Long before George Orwell outlined the dystopian nightmare of an atheistic relativistic totalitarian society, the prophet Isaiah predicted Orwellian Newspeak with dead on accuracy:

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

I guess you will feel quite at home :-)

    1. You know, Rick... If you cannot understand the answer that does not mean it was not given to you. You are an idiot not because you are stupid, but because you refuse to educate yourself. If there is something you do not understand in an answer or question, do ask for some clarification

You mean the answers here: http://templestream.blogspot.com/2012/08/atheist-achilles-heels-objective.html?showComment=1344702296226#c4896787469853160654

As in, "the comment below the one you just posted."

Really, Rick, try and be a *little* less obvious next time. And I notice, as usual, you didn't bother answering any of the points on this post that I raised, just as you didn't bother answering the methodological problems raised here:
      http://templestream.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-faith-factor-in-placing-usa-first.html?showComment=1344527177663#c8527488655388232616
Or the points raised about alleged "true Christian" Martin Luther and anti-Semitism back in the Venn diagram thread.

Rick, try answering some of the many questions you've left unanswered before you go beating your chest about your allegedly "unanswered" simple questions when the answer's in the next comment.

That's why not one of you atheist antagonists
And you're still making an assumption.

You really ought to consider what sort of an example you're setting; because if intellectual dishonesty and cowardice is exemplary of Christianity, you're doing far more harm than good in your attempts to argue.

    3. The link you posted referred to a different comment post (August 10, 2012 8:12 AM) where you offer your two 'principles' of morality. I didn't believe that you were actually proposing these as serious reasons why incest, bestially and pedophilia should be considered morally wrong for secular humanists, but it seems this is actually the case.

      1) "That which is hateful to you, do not do to other people"

      2) "Do not violate another person's bodily integrity first, save in defense of another's bodily integrity."

I've addressed your 'principles' at the appropriate venue:

    4. Hey, Rick, going to answer any of the points made on *this* post, or are we back to the pattern of "The only thing Rick is interested in is bestiality"?

  3. Anonymous,

It never ceases to amaze me how people like you continue to make claims without posting actual links to actual supposed answers.

Where in the previous article comments did you answer my question of why bestiality, incest and pedophilia should be considered morally wrong according to secular humanism if there is a sense of consent, no one is being hurt and if both seem to be enjoying it?

Where is the link to your answer?

    1. I have posted my reply on August 10 at 8:37 and 8:38 AM in your thread "Atheist Achilles Heels: Objective Morality and Sacred Life". I gave you a detailed criticism of your article and answered your questions in the comments. Though, it is indeed my fault since I have forgotten that you have an attention span of a kid and are unable to read long answers.

    3. AnonyRus,

It seems you have missed the boat entirely. We are not debating what PZ Myers meant by the word sacred at his blog. I made the following challenge and, based on your links which did not address my challenge, you have failed to even touch upon the subject:

Explain why incest, bestiality and pedophilia should be considered morally wrong in accordance with atheistic secular humanism wherein there is a sense of mutual consent and all parties seem to be enjoying the activity.

If you want to try to answer the question, please do it at the appropriate venue i.e., the comment section of the following article:

  5. I wanted to point out that Rick s pet theory has again crumbled under the weight of reality. The most successful country in the Olympics (athlete-per-medal ratio) would be East Gemany (5 games attended, 3,3 competitors per medal and 409 medals in total). It is followed by the Soviet Union (10 games attended, 3,4 competitors per medal, 1,122 medals in total). And at the third place we have the USA (25 games attended, 4,1 competitors per medal, 2,292 medals in total). Comclusion: "Atheist" countries are more efficient at sport than "Christian" countries 8)
