On 9/11, Gallup Polls Show People Waking Up

On the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a series of polls show an encouraging trend that more people are beginning to wake up. A Gallup poll published 13 August 2010 shows 75% of the US public believes the mainstream media news is untrustworthy. This percentage is even more dramatic than a Gallup poll revealing the increasing disapproval ratings of President Obama. While a Zogby poll in 2006 found most people were not aware of the basic facts regarding WTC Building 7, which crumbled in 6.5 seconds but was never hit by an airplane, a Gallup poll in 2008 showed a sharp increase in Internet news use since 2006 and, so, voila! By 2010, Gallup's media poll implies people are gradually wising up, having tasted some truth!

A remarkable precedent was set in a US court in 2003: “The court held that Fox News had no obligation to report truthfully, and the First Amendment protects their right to lie.” For a broader context of the subject, see “New Info on Hidden Hazards of Genetically Modified Foods.” Completely ignoring important aspects of 9/11 and lying about major health issues somehow don't seem to be in the best interest of the public. How did mainstream news get so out of hand? Is this accidental?

The Sheeple Factor

In 1922, Walter Lippmann, an American elitist and a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, described the masses as a “bewildered herd” much in the same way Jesus described the masses in Mark 6.34. Lippmann outlined the shaping of public opinion through mainstream media in a concept termed the “manufacture of consent.” He underscored a perceived need by elitists to control the ignorant masses for the so-called greater good of society, of course, with the elite on top. The main difference between the elitists and Jesus is that elitists have historically evidenced a sick compulsion to use lies and deception to manipulate and enslave people while Jesus expresses a sincere compassion to use truth and revelation to liberate and save people.

The US public has been disparagingly labeled “sheeple” by it's own critics as well as by commentators from other countries. One example is the former Soviet Union news source Pravda. Do I believe all that is written in Pravda? No. But the best way to understand your faults is to listen to your harshest critics. Pravda outlined three steps it believes has led to the United States' increasingly obvious decline. First, the gradual dumbing down of the public, second, the removal of God from the equation and, third, the election of President Obama. But, as flash-points of public focus, these subjects may actually be used to wake people up:

The Dumbing Down of the Public

In describing America's pop culture, Pravda described how “Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in D.C. that directly affects their lives.” The article was written in June 2009 and the recent Gallup poll suggests people are wising up a bit. I love the freedom which the US has stood for but it wasn't until I moved to Ukraine that I was able to step outside the US cultural bubble and view it more objectively, questioning some of my basic assumptions, which was quite difficult. There are many reasons why US society is becoming dumbed down.  For example, harmful substances such as sodium fluoride are found in most public water systems, which have been proven to accumulate in the brain and permanently reduce a child’s intelligence .

Another point is the education system. Many documented facts show the US Department of Education is geared not so much to help students become critical thinkers, but more so to become docile global sheeple and to accept whatever idea or philosophy is presented in the classroom as fact, without question. This trend has only increased since the writing of a now-free e-book by former Senior Policy Advisor in the U.S. Department of Education, Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. People would be hard-pressed to realize that the socialization and dumbing down of the US education system is not accidental, but is a part of an agenda along the lines of John Dewey's and the United Nations' globalist agenda.

The God Factor

Living in Ukraine, I've been suckered into a couple of the many scams, one involving a currency exchange booth and the police and another involving a bus driver and two other accomplices. These were expensive lessons that helped me realize just how corrupt society is here. Why are American's seen as, and often are, more gullible? The main reason is because we come from a society with a Judeo-Christian foundation based on trust and good will. Christian author David Ray Griffin underlines how the American paradigm can lead to gullibility:

“In American culture, the persona includes a strong conviction that we are surrounded by people with benign intentions -- and that by joining enthusiastically in the American consumer culture, we are ourselves participating in an expression of the best of human aspirations. We are deeply convinced, as part of our social make-up, that our culture represents the highest flowering of justice and democracy. Of course, this psychological construct is continuously fortified by educational institutions, employers and the corporate media.”

Obama: The Ultimate Bunker Buster

Presenting President Obama, perhaps to his dismay, is a wonderful catalyst for debunking much of the massively fortified disinformation in society. According to its definition, “A bunker buster is a bomb designed to penetrate hardened targets or targets buried deep underground.” People who are normally rational, such as my father, voted for President Obama simply because of a disenchantment with the Republican Party. The disparity between what Obama promised and what he has delivered has become a shocking wakeup call to many US citizens. Obama has become a bunker buster of deep seeded preconceptions about the United States and society in general. The two-party political system is being revealed as an entrenched, self-serving system, which ultimately does not support the sovereignty of the Unity States but, rather, globalist aims. Those not familiar with US slang, may not have caught the pun. The words bunk and bunkum both mean “untruth.”

Denial and Recovery

“On September 11th, 2001, a massive failure in the provision of defense occurred. Nevertheless, afterward, "faith in government" soared. This seems to me to involve denial of reality.” - David Ray Griffin

I'm not a big fan of Sigmund Freud and his underlying philosophical premises, but he did touch upon many truths which are universal and confirmed in scripture. One of these principles is the defense- or coping mechanism. Romans 1.18, 1.21 and 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 describe how there is a tendency to suppress truth in order to justify what we want to believe about ourselves and about society. If some facts do not fit with our perceived paradigm or are too difficult and painful to accept, we will tend to repress these facts no matter how obvious they are.

David Ray Griffin was apathetic about alternative 9/11 theories until he began to do his own research. Then there was a conversion so dramatic he ended up writing eleven books on the subject. Many influential people have been “converted” after reading his most popular book Debunking 911 Debunking, which refutes the Popular Mechanics explanations of 9/11 events. Reviews by people who've read the book continue to speak of an intense process which often takes place, as in this book review at Amazon.com:

“Any time an alternate conspiracy theory was mentioned... I "pfffffft" and chuckled. Right now, as I write this, I honestly feel sick to my stomach. I've cried myself to sleep the last two nights. Why? Because this book has changed my mind on the events and aftermath of 9/11. ...It's almost too much to handle all at once, all the revelations made by Mr. Griffin in this book. I feel like my mind has gone through a polar shift over the last 72 hours."

As the review points out, people are prone to shun any alternative 9/11 theory off hand, claiming the idea is “ridiculous.” In his book Mein Kamf, Hitler coined the phrase “the big lie” as a lie so "colossal" people wouldn't believe someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." He meant to vilify the Jews with this accusation but a US military psychological review by the Office of Strategic Services found this to be Hitler's own opinion: “People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one.”

Let the implications fall where they may. But as Griffin has pointed out, the launching of the Iraq war was brilliantly wrapped in the flag and blessed by the church with a maximum of emotional impact. The day after 9/11, President Bush declared "a monumental struggle of Good versus Evil." The next day, the thirteenth, he surrounded himself in a cathedral with Billy Graham, a Catholic cardinal, a rabbi and imam and declared “Our responsibility to history is already clear: to answer these attacks...” Thus, to question the official 9/11 Report or the Iraq War was officially sealed as blasphemous sacrilege, in addition to being unpatriotic. To this day, this psychological paradigm remains above reason and question for many people. For example, the most popular article I wrote for Christian blog Revelife, Christians Likely to Believe 9/11 was a Cover-up, received over 4,800 views, but Revelife has since censored the article from my list of contributed articles.

Conclusion

Many say it's time to forget 9/11 and “let the past be the past,” however, if your mother had been murdered in front of you nine years ago and some of the primary suspects had never even been questioned, you'd probably have a different opinion. The real reason many say “let the past be the past” is probably because the implications of the known facts are simply too difficult to stomach. As in the movie Matrix, the red pill, the ability to question foundational assumptions, is more difficult to swallow than the blue pill, which signifies living in illusion. The first step in overcoming denial is to simply review the facts with an open mind, which, after nine years, many people still haven't done. Often Christians believe we should only “think happy thoughts” because of verses like Philippians 4.8. But if you notice the beginning of the verse, it says to think on “whatever is true.” Truth is on the top of the list. If you have never questioned the official 9/11 Commission Report, why not take a few minutes to do so? The following recent documents on the 9/11 Commission, Building 7 and some video clips will give you more relevant information than big corporate media has probably offered in the past nine years:

Washington's Blog has complied a collection of informative, revealing quotes:

Examine recent reviews regarding big media's invisible Building 7:

Architect Richard Gage has updated videos documenting empirical evidence:

9/11: Blueprint For Truth (part 1 of 13)

David Ray Griffin describes 9/11 Commission errors and omissions in many videos:

We are Change and Truth Rising, begun by kids, keep the issues alive with respect to the thousands of victims who died not only in 2001 but also from the toxic smoke that lingered at Ground Zero:

Question to consider:

If a person is unwilling to objectively question foundational issues in one area of life, isn't it likely he or she will be unwilling to do the same in other areas?

  1. I'm not sure "wake up" is correct. A plurality thought the MSM "too liberal." Most media are owned by the large corporations, which of course take the big business point of view. That is the opposite of liberal, I think.
