The God-Shaped Hole in Black Lives Matter

What's really going on here in this video? Why are these young African Americans harassing people in a cafe eating ice cream? Why are they demanding respect and affirmation from random strangers on the street? After some probing, it's easy to see a lot of evidence that the focus of Black Lives Matter mainly on the police is misguided and that there are more basic and fundamental underlying problems in the black community. I'm going to dig down, layer by layer, to the root of the problem.

The main elephant in the room of Black Lives Matter has nothing to do with racism or the police. It has to do with cultural problems of systemic fatherless homes, under-performing schools, and systemic violent crime in the black community. George Floyd's parents separated when he was two, his mother moved with the children to one of the poorest areas of the city into a housing project called Bricks. Floyd later had 5 convictions related to theft and in 2009, Floyd was arrested and convicted of armed robbery.

As someone who grew up in a fatherless home, I personally understand the very real and yet subtle influence this can have. While there's frequent discussion of the pain of racism, there's little if any discussion of the pain of growing up in a fatherless home. Groups like BLM completely ignore it. BLM was begun by three women from a single Facebook post, to "a national network of approximately 40 chapters” and they apparently have had no interest in or understanding about the effects of faithlessness on young men.

Children brought up without a father in the home are more likely to be resentful and rebel, more likely to reject authority, commit serious crimes, and, therefore, more likely to have confrontations with police. This is probably the main factor as to why Chicago has dozens of young blacks killing each other each weekend. There are African American mayors in cities such as Chicago, and so the claim of 'systemic racism' as the root cause is not a strong argument. Larry Elder explained in a video "Black America Needs Fathers" the statistics.

The higher percentages of fatherless homes, under-performing public schools in the inner cities, and higher violent crime in the black community are common basic causes as to why there are greater confrontations with police. According to the National Principals Association, 71 percent of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes -- nine times the average. And 73 percent of African-American children are born out of wedlock.

And instead of addressing the root causes, there's blame-shifting onto the police, whites, the president, and the United States of America in general.

Not only does Black Lives Matter fail to address the problem of fatherless homes, based on their atheistic approach they actually condemn the concept of the nuclear family and present fatherless homes as a good alternative to aim for. This article explains why: "Black Lives Matter Foundation Aims to ‘Disrupt’ Family Structure, Excludes Fathers from Vision of Community" and here's a video of an African American woman explaining to a 'woke' white activist the true and harmful nature of BLM:

Additionally, the root cause of police corruption in Democrat cities is never addressed by BLM. Police unions have donated heavily to the Democrat Party, and in return, the Democrat politicians have looked the other way when it comes to police corruption and badly-needed police reforms. The top two recipients of contributions from police groups in the Senate are Democrat Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. So, to summarize, Democratic Senator Klobuchar has been taking the most in gifts from the police union in the state where George Floyd was killed by corrupt police.

The police officer that killed Floyd with a knee chokehold, Derek Chauvin, was a 19-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department that had 18 misconduct complaints and a reputation for aggression, according to police records. The knee chokehold that was used against Floyd was not actually a 'racist attack' but was a part of the standard accepted protocol that could have easily been banned years ago if the Democrats in charge of Minnesota had any inkling to address police behavior and corruption. Why is it that BLM won't call out this serious underlying problem?

By attacking the nuclear family in black homes, ignoring the political corruption that led to the George Floyd death, and shifting blame onto the police in general, BLM is essentially pouring gasoline into a house fire and trying to blame others for the loss of life.

In a previous post, I showed that the founders of BLM have been trained in the ways of atheistic Marxism. The fact that Marxism is inherently atheistic became clearer when the 'woke' Smithsonian condemned Christianity as a 'racist' idea in their recent Marxist-racist manifesto. We also see a top BLM advocate Sean King calling for the destruction of Christian church statues that appear to depict a 'white' Jesus and Mary. BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors, along with BLM Los Angeles Co-Founder Melina Abdullah, discussed the occult spiritual component of the BLM movement. The underlying anti-Christian sentiments of today's protests can also be seen in recent Bible burning in Portland. Black Lives Matter rioters in Charlotte marched down the street chanting “f-ck your Jesus” in answer to a street preacher there, as shown in the following video:

Though Christianity and knowing God provide a firm foundation and the comfort needed for empty and aching souls, BLM and Antifa reject God on a fundamental level.

One day, my mother encouraged me to try to see God as the perfect Father and this may have been the most helpful advice she ever gave me, especially as I was growing up in a fatherless home. This perspective pointed me to a firm rock to lean upon and trust in that was not merely an abstract concept but the living God that I could walk with day today. I didn't need affirmation from anyone else to succeed if God Himself was affirming me. Viktor Frankl realized in Nazi prison camps that we need meaning in life even more than pleasure and he wrote an entire book about this, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946. I believe he was spot on.

Ultimately, only God as our creator can give us the ultimate sense of significance and affirmation that we need and were created to experience in knowing Him personally. Viewing skin color as a person's central basis of identity and meaning is ultimately dehumanizing and demeaning. Demanding affirmation of this view and recompense for past generational actions will not bring fulfillment but will only bring greater frustration and anger because it's based on false premises.

BLM was founded by Marxists and is run in part by convicted terrorists. The underlying atheistic premise of Marxism supports their 'end justifies the means' and 'might makes right' approach to violence. They try to force a choice between either being a 'racist' or supporting Marxist BLM, but it's a false dichotomy. We can choose the wisdom and knowledge of God as the true basis of significance and affirmation, that's not merely skin deep, and offers eternal hope and inner peace for everyone without discrimination. This is what the Apostle Paul chose:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28 NKJV
