Answers to the Violence in Charlottesville, Virginia

There are a lot of questions surrounding the violence this weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Who or what is mainly to blame for the violence?
Was this violence brewing for a long time?
Is this violence mainly President Trump's fault?
Were both sides supporting racism in some form?
Were both factions provoking violence?

A lot of people seem to be trying to pin the actions of white supremacists on all conservatives and all Christians in general. But according to common opinion, the alt-right is not a form of conservativism but is an alternative to it. And any form of Christianity associated with the alt-right is not true Christianity. I will show why in this post.

Lately, there's been an increase of white supremacists waving Nazi flags and Antifa Front supporters calling for violence against whites. They've handed out leaflets since the Trump election with text advocating the killing of all white people: "After the purge, we will live in a worker's paradise..." (attached)

What a mess. The most helpful thing is probably to first look at underlying causes, rather than to simply focus on the violence displayed by both sides of that conflict. The following notes address root causes and are from a separate article that I'd written a while earlier:

A constitution written on a piece of paper is not enough to keep people civilized and to keep society free. When a critical mass of society embraces self-centered morally relativistic values over the type of altruistic values taught by Christ, then that is a path towards self-destruction, a loss of freedom, and ultimately totalitarianism.

What we are seeing in society today is a deeper kind of slavery, a slavery of the mind. So many people are bound up with deeply-ingrained false values, false idols, and false perceptions of reality that there is predictably increased violence and hostility.

The irony of extremist conservatism alternatives is that these deny true values and result in relativism. The irony of extremist forms of relativism is that these ultimately reduce freedom and, one way or another, result in totalitarianism. The historic seven cycles of freedom and bondage of Israel in Scripture display this clearly.

Another irony is that liberal secular institutions are some of the most racist footholds on the planet earth when it comes to scientific racism and eugenics. You can read about Planned Parenthood's Margaret Sanger and her "Negro Project" as a prime example.

The answer to racism is not reactionary hatred and violence. It has to do with each one of us seeking to better understand the true basis and foundation of ethics, to personally live by it, and to help share it with others. And I've also described for healing from roots of bitterness as another key factor in addressing racism, at this linked post.

God's perfect, unchanging and eternal natures is the true objective foundation of ethics. This theme of racism and ethics is continued in another article titled Racism Reveals Slavery of the Mind.

  1. The Wikipedia article states that the alt-right is an alternative to *mainstream* conservatism, not an alternative to conservatism.
